The program, dubbed Kinergy “Fit Rules!” will debut on February 9, at 7:00 (pm) at 2nd Wind Exercise Equipment locations in Woodbury. Additional programs will be offered in Maple Grove.

The Kinergy “Fit Rules!” program will provide parents and kids with more knowledge about what and how they could eat, along with regular physical activity, to develop a long-lasting and healthy lifestyle

Noted Physiologist and Nutritionist, Dr. Dan Halvorsen will lead the sessions, aided by professionals from Kohl’s PowerCubed Exercise Medicine clinic located at Children’s Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

“Childhood obesity continues to be a serious health problem for an increasing number of our youth,” said Dan Halvorson, phd. According to a recent annual preventative services audit conducted by Children’s Physician Network, children’s body mass index today run between 28 and 31 percent, indicating that about 30 percent of the kids in our area are overweight.”

Kinergy “Fit Rules!” will include educational seminars, web and videos for parents and kids to learn steps for healthy eating and activity.

The program will feature a 90 minute session, one night per week, for three weeks for children and their parents. The first course will combine age-appropriate exercise with education and goal setting. Children’s Physician Network will facilitate registration and follow-ups with participants.
