Success for Amy L. Woodward

August 19, 2017 - After approximately 2 years as a litigator in the firm of Carlsmith Ball, one of the largest litigation firms in Hawaii, attorney Amy L. Woodward left her position there about a year ago to join the Law Office of William H. Lawson. In the process she also changed the emphasis of her legal practice from employment law and representing corporations to personal injury law and representing individuals. Now, after just about 1 year of association with our firm, she has completed her first legal case as the lead attorney on a matter. Faced with a complicated and challenging liability fact pattern, including an adverse witness who was not a party, she maintained poise and confidence as she emphasized the facts and considerations which logic dictated lead to responsibility.
The damages issues were also complicated as many of the losses were consequential damages which flowed out of the impact of the injuries on the client's job and family situation and not directly out of the injuries themselves. Ms. Woodward fought hard for her client throughout the case-in-chief and the defense presentation and then provided a forceful rebuttal as well.
The arbitrator's final decision was fair, appropriate and reasonable. For our client, the ruling was very important and provided some needed relief from a very difficult time in his life.
The arbitration award showed that the arbitrator was fully aware of the facts and the law, so the decision was not appealed and the matter has gone to final resolution within a couple of additional months. Congratulations Amy on the hard work and the favorable, fair and just result for our client!
