Donny Shimamoto to Teach Advisory Services Webinar

July 19, 2017 - Donny Shimamoto was announced as the featured speaker for a SageWorks webinar, Expanding Your Firm's Advisory Services. The session will help attendees ensure compliance with overarching consulting services standards, learn a holistic approach to creating an advisory services department, and understand the commonly used professional frameworks of providing advisory services. This free webinar will be held on July 20th at 10am PT, and offers 1 CPE credit.

Donny is the immediate past chairman of the AICPA's Information Management & Technology Assurance Executive Committee, and former member of its Governing Council and Assurance Services Executive Committee, and an honoree of multiple industry awards. He has worked on several international collaborations between the AICPA and CIMA related to business intelligence and is also a frequent speaker on how management accountants can help add-value to their organizations via CGMA webcasts.

Donny will explore how firms can start having a more unified approach to advisory services in a public accounting firm. Attendees will learn how to map packaged or vendor-specific work programs into overarching professional standards (E.g. AICPA, IIA). This will in turn help the firm to manage risks from increased advisory services work and ensure artificial silos and inconsistencies aren't being created. "There are some critical aspects in creating value-added services for a CPA firm that cannot be forgotten or compliance becomes a risk.
