June 7, 2017 - The Tilt-up Concrete Association (TCA) presented Tilt-up Series: Dallas, part of a series of regional conferences for construction and real estate professionals.Approximately 100 of the north Texas construction, architectural, engineering and real estate development community attended the event at the Gaylord Texan Resort Hotel and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas on June 2, 2017.
An important segment of Tilt-up Series: Dallas was Tilt-up Future Think, a series of lectures and panel discussions focused on emerging technologies and ideas with promising applicability for the tilt-up construction industry. Findings from this forum will ultimately be published for TCA members around the world.
Additional seminars at Tilt-up Series: Dallas presented information on concrete finishes, energy conservation and workforce development. Superintendents also had the opportunity to receive formal training and testing for the TCA's Tilt-up Supervisor and Technician Certification.
"The Dallas event was the first of a series of regional tilt-up education and networking events the TCA is planning around North America," said Mitch Bloomquist, Executive Director of the TCA. "The TCA recognizes the benefits of coming together as an industry and aims to provide an increasing number of offerings in the future. Dallas was also our choice to host the first ever Tilt-Up Future Think. The 15-minute talks were well received and provided insight into the future of construction that challenged attendees' positions on, and perceptions of, technology's role in the industry.
"Being the strong tilt-up market Dallas is, we were not surprised to see so many people turn out to participate," Mr. Bloomquist added.
Bob Moore Construction, a sustaining member of the TCA, was a platinum level sponsor for Tilt-up Series: Dallas.
"Tilt-up Series: Dallas was a remarkable opportunity for everyone in the Texas construction community," said Ed McGuire, President of Bob Moore Construction. "The TCA performed a great service by organizing this forum where the top experts in tilt-up construction could share their ideas and new technologies with general contractors, architects and developers in our local market.
"Thanks to advancements in recent years, tilt-up construction is being used more creatively and in a wider range of applications than ever before," said Mr. McGuire. "Now, with an understanding of what future technologies and concepts may offer, we will be able to create better, safer, and more efficient projects in the years to come."
