ProSites Announces Winner of Pay It Forward Dental Student Scholarship

May 17, 2017 – ProSites, a leading provider of dental website design and marketing solutions, today announced the winner of its first Pay It Forward Scholarship for dental students in the United States. Eligibility for the scholarship required a minimum of 50 hours volunteered, a personal statement from applicants on why they believe they deserve the scholarship, and letters of recommendation from their educational institution.

The award was given to Kelly Nguyen, a student at Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry. Kelly is a fourth-year student who has volunteered in California and Honduras, working with various under-privileged communities to promote oral health education.

"The Pay It Forward Scholarship was created to thank dental students for their selfless dedication to their communities," stated Ken Robinson, CMO of ProSites, "We're thrilled to extend this award to such a deserving student as Kelly and wish her the absolute best in her future endeavors."

Having lost both her parents throughout childhood and adolescence, Kelly is solely responsible for the financial needs of her education as a dental student. Furthermore, Kelly was hospitalized for nearly a week after experiencing a lethal allergic reaction to antibiotics, adding financial hardship to her burden.

"Receiving this scholarship means that I can borrow less in order to achieve my goal of becoming a community dentist at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). I am interested in understanding the ways to reduce the barriers of access to oral healthcare for different groups of individuals," Kelly stated, "I hope to learn how to implement successful oral health outreach programs that cater to a variety of affected populations who face barriers to access such as cultural/language barriers and educational barriers, geographical obstacles, and financial hurdles."
