February 16, 2017 - Grand Blanc, MI – The Natural Wellness & Pain Relief Center in Grand Blanc is pleased to announce that it is now offering stem cell therapy to its collection of cutting-edge treatments. Stem cell therapy has been growing increasingly popular recently due to it's regenerative effects on chronic problems. Stem cell therapy has been difficult to obtain historically, due to certain ethical and moral considerations surrounding donated tissue. However, new technology has emerged, allowing physicians to use their patient's own tissues to extract stem cells from the patient's own body, thus avoiding these ethical and moral concerns.Dr. Megan Strauchman, medical director of the Natural Wellness & Pain Relief Center in Grand Blanc, has begun using the only medical device FDA approved to process patient samples for bone marrow stem cell extraction, autologous fat stem cell extraction, and platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy. This technology allows Dr. Strauchman to treat chronic conditions with a very high level of precision and quality. When asked about stem cell therapy, Dr. Strauchman said, "stem cell therapy with this equipment can be used to help patients with degenerative knee problems, rotator cuff tears, along with neurological conditions such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, MS, or post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome. It's really exciting to have access to this kind of medical technology available in our local community."
The uses of stem cell therapy are continually expanded as medical knowledge of the treatment grows. Currently, protocols are being developed for spinal cord injury patients, autism spectrum patients, heart failure, cerebral palsy, diabetes, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
Stem cells can be isolated from the patient's own fat cells, or from their own bone marrow. These stem cells differentiate into various tissues, including bone, tendon, muscle, ligament, and nerve. Because it is taken from the patient's own tissues, autologous stem cell therapy has thus far shown an excellent safety profile.
Stem cell therapy is not typically covered by insurance unfortunately, and the cost of treatment depends upon the number of areas to be treated. However, Dr. Strauchman's office has offered a no-obligation phone consultation with one of its providers through the end of March for those interested in learning more about stem cell therapy and how it may benefit them.
