(PR Leap) — A new search engine called Seekz Meta Search has been launched to the public. The powerful new service gathers results from several top web search engines and merges them into a single set. Pages from the same web site are grouped together and sites are ordered by relevance. The search engine is being developed as a university project, with the aim is to improve the relevance of search results and to increase the power of searching obscure terms. Currently in the alpha test phase, Seekz is calling on the public to try out the new service and give feedback.
Seekz is non-commercial. The results are taken from search engines that do not charge for higher placement so the relevancy of results are improved because they are not biased towards web sites that pay for top positions. Result pages are also free from banners, pop-ups and other form of advertisements that impose on a searcher’s experience.
Additional features of Seekz include a web site preview option enabling searchers to view snapshots of web sites before they visit, a convenient search plug-in for Mozilla/Firefox browsers, and a search box that webmasters can install on their web sites. In the future, Seekz aims to add more features aimed at improving the search experience.
