More Cuban, That’s All!: The Voices of the Cuban Diaspora Speak Again is a series of monologues chronicling the Cuban exile experience from 1959 post revolution Cuba through today. At the reading you will hear the voices of exile as they revisit many of the key turning points in the Cuban experience: the exodus of the 60s, Operacion Pedro Pan, the Freedom Flights, the Mariel Boatlift and much, much more. These vignettes, read by the author and a live cast, are humorous, touching, poignant, emotional and real.Hernandez is also the author of a companion piece, Cuban, That’s All!: An Exile In Three Acts – Candid Voices of a Spanglish Existence published in 2002.
This is the second reading at Books and Books for Hernandez and his cast, having had a very successful presentation in April of 2003.
This reading will include monologues from both books including Los Quinces, Operacion Pedro Pan, El Amor Tiene Cara de Comida, La Dieta Cubana, La Cola and the author’s own autobiographical monologue, Shoebox Child.
The reading is presented in English, Spanish and Spanglish.
