Naples, Fla. - December 1, 2016 - In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, Marvistel, LLC, a Florida-based company in the online lending industry, instituted a new program offering paid time off for its employees to participate in a service project of their choice. Full-time employees will now receive two days per calendar year for a total of 16 service hours to work with an organization that gives back to society and which they feel passionate about."Though Marvistel is an early-stage start-up, we felt obligated to be part of the giving culture, even in this small, but important way," said Marvistel founder Raphael Ocampo. "Marvistel has two divisions: Lead Envy and Lead Toro. Those divisions, due to the nature of the business, do not interact with each other. Participating and sharing their time with a service organization allows the members of each team to come together as one organization and make the world a bit brighter each year."
Examples of the projects the team has worked on in the past include Habitat for Humanity, Stand Up to Cancer, United Way, Feed My Starving Children and others. Giving Tuesday, commonly referred to on social as simply #givingtuesday, is a movement started by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation as a response to commercialization and consumerism in the post-Thanksgiving season (Black Friday and Cyber Monday).
"After Thanksgiving, we hear a lot about sales and gift purchases. We thought it would be important to contribute to the society in other ways than consumerism," stated Oscar Zumaran, Managing Director of Lead Envy - the software arm of Marvistel.
Employees will be encouraged to participate in the new social responsibility program, as well as share photos and information about their cause on company social handles to continue inspiring others long past Giving Tuesday.
