St. Louis Society for the Blind & Visually Impaired Elects Volunteer Board Officers for 2006

JANUARY 30, 2006, St. Louis, Missouri … David C. Ekin, President and CEO of The St. Louis Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired, which administers productive programs for individuals throughout metropolitan St. Louis, today announced the election of officers for its Board of Directors in 2006. They are:Board Chairman: Gerald Brooks, Director of Marketing & Community Relations, St. Louis Public Library
Vice Chairman: Louis Miller, Senior Buyer, KV Pharmaceutical Company
Treasurer: Gene Maggard, Regional Director – External Affairs, AT&T Missouri
Assistant Treasurer: Joseph J. Brinker, Executive Vice President, Bethesda Health Group
Secretary: Alice E. Conway, Assistant General Counsel, Global Business Conduct, Monsanto Company
Assistant Secretary: Lawrence E. Evans, Senior Partner with the law firm Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin LLP
Mr. Ekin said, “In 2006, the Society will celebrate our 95th year of serving visually-impaired individuals to support their physical, rehabilitative and developmental status, and to enhance their independence. The Society’s volunteer Board officers for 2006 are committed to advancing our service mission and community programs.”
Founded in 1911, The St. Louis Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency providing education, training and vision rehabilitation services to more than 1,500 individuals annually who are blind or visually impaired to enhance their physical, psychological and social rehabilitation and independence. The Society’s headquarters are at 8770 Manchester Road in suburban St. Louis.
Later this year, the Society will announce plans for its annual Awards & Recognition Dinner, a milestone event attended by many community leaders and sponsoring enterprises, Mr. Ekin said.
