The Chili Dump Run benefit was originally organized and created by a local teenager Ian Fournie's desire to show support for his former classmate and friend, Alex Bronton.
Alex, now 18, who previously resided in Lake Barrington Shores, and is currently living at the Misericordia complex in Chicago, Illinois. He has Cerebral Palsy and is confined to a wheelchair. Ian's Fournie's support for Alex by creating the Chili Dump Run is a wonderful example of how caring can and will make a difference. Ian Fournie is a 14-year old resident of the Shady Hill community and a cross-country runner at Barrington High School. He met Alex while they both attended Barrington Middle School, Station Campus, and the two quickly became friends.
They have remained friends and often communicate through phones calls or over Skype, and are able to meet in-person several times a year. The proceeds from the Chili Dump Run will go to support Misericordia, the very organization that provides Alex with the life-changing supportive services he requires. Misericordia is a not-for-profit organization that operates in Chicago, Illinois.
This organization provides vital supportive services to people in the area who have mild to severe developmental disabilities. It is a 501(c)(3) organization that has been in operation since 1921. Its 31-acre campus provides services for up to 600 children and adults in the greater Chicago area. The main goal of the organization is to provide the services necessary to allow residents with developmental disabilities to lead a life with maximum independence.
