Some Gun Owners Up in Arms over Child Safety Web site

San Diego CA, January 26, 2006 — Within hours of it’s official release to the public, Play Date Secure www.playdatesecure.com received a number of alarming responses from what would seem to be disgruntled fire arm owners.

Staff members at Play Date Secure were bewildered by the negative attention. They later discovered that their initial Press Release, dated January 22nd, had been published in a Michigan based Fire Arm web site, which may have brought confused attention to the child safety organization.

The web service, which offers a free trial, provides parents with an opportunity to provide and securely share potentially life saving information before play dates begin. This includes a request for parents to disclose that firearms are securely stored, if they in fact exist, within the home’s where play date’s occur. Information that most parents agree is important to have, yet seldom obtained, according to recent studies.

In addition to firearm information, parents may share a wide array of other information including whether pools and spas are secured, medicines and chemicals are secured from child access, child medical conditions (such as allergies etc), and parental controls for video games and other media.

Parents may securely share information with each other prior to a play date by exchanging personalized “PIN” numbers. By this exchange, parents may view each other’s profiles and initiate play dates through the secure member area of the website.
