Surgent Hosts Cyber Security Course Taught by Donny Shimamoto

July 7, 2016 - Donny Shimamoto will present Assessing Cyber Security Risk for Accounting Firms on July 13th at 1:00pm Eastern Time via Surgent Professional Education. The course will offer 2 CPE credits and costs $89; attendees will learn how to identify data sets and systems that are at risk in the firm.

Accounting firms are generally at greater risk of a cyber-attack or data breach due to the sensitive nature of multiple organizations' data on their systems. Approaching the subject with IT staff can be a difficult task and cyber-liability insurance only addresses monetary issues, when a privacy breach may also put a firm's reputation at risk. This course will dissect the issue for non-techies and so that a firm's partners and stakeholders can begin to better understand a firm's true risk and exposure.

Donny is the immediate past chairman of the AICPA's Information Management & Technology Assurance Executive Committee, and former member of its Governing Council and Assurance Services Executive Committee. An honoree of multiple industry and professional awards, he has worked on several international collaborations between the AICPA and CIMA related to business intelligence and is also a frequent speaker on how management accountants can help add-value to their organizations.
