STAR-STUDDED CELEBRITY PSA CAMPAIGN LEADS THE NATION’S CHARGE AGAINST CHILD ABDUCTION, ABUSE & EXPLOITATION

Scores of Hollywood celebrities are lending their time and talent to the AmberWatch Foundationto take a stand against child abduction and molestation by recording content for a series of 15-
second public service announcements based on the AmberWatch Foundation’s “Be Safe!”
curriculum.
Currently being implemented by law enforcement agencies as part of their crime prevention education, the AmberWatch Foundation "Be Safe!" program utilizes a highly interactive situation learning format whereby law enforcement professionals demonstrate to students in a non-threatening way how to respond to real-life "what if?" scenarios.
The PSA’s feature the voices of many well-known Hollywood celebrities, including Martin Short, Catherine O’Hara, Nia Vardalos of “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” fame, Eugene Levy (“American Pie”) and Jane Kaczmarek (“Malcolm in the Middle”). Other well-known celebrities such as Jerry Seinfeld, Julianne Moore, Maria Bello, Jamie Lee Curtis, Teri Hatcher, Vanessa Williams and Patricia Arquette have committed to record in the near future. The tips are designed to help parents and children learn simple safety measures and solutions to minimize the chance of abduction and molestation.
The national spots showcase “Be Safe!” Tips for parents and children and will be broadcast on
Clear Channel radio stations and the ABC Radio Network in 2006.
“We are thrilled that so many celebrities have stepped forward to serve as ‘Champions for Children’ in this effort and have embraced this opportunity to take a proactive stance against child abuse, endangerment and exploitation,” says Keith Jarrett, executive director of The AmberWatch Foundation. “Our mission is to ignite conversation between parents and their children to reinforce avoid the safety message and help them to avoid potential endangerment scenarios with both strangers and non-strangers in and outside of the home.”
