“A NIGHT IN THE 40’s”Take a Sentimental Journey WITH THE ARIZONA WING HANGAR DANCE March18th 2006
The Arizona Wing will take a Sentimental Journey back to 1943 with “A Night in the 40s.” This glamorous event features a WW II USO Show followed by a Big Band Orchestra playing sounds of the era to dancing men and women dressed in the period - all in the shadow of the vintage B-17 WW II bomber “Sentimental Journey”!
Besides being a nostalgic journey back in time, “A Night in the 40’s” benefits a worthwhile cause — a fund raiser for the Arizona Wing CAF flying museum at Mesa’s Falcon Field, NE corner of McKellips and Greenfield; an organization dedicated to keeping history alive for current and future generations.
“A Night in the 40’s” will be held Saturday, March 18th, with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to come dressed in the style of the 40s. Danny Davis from AM 1230 KOY will be the Master of Ceremonies. Entertainment begins at 5:30 p.m. with La Petite “Ja’Zaz” a 1940’s Musical USO Show with singers and a professional trio of piano, bass, and drums. At 7:30 p.m., swing time kicks in featuring the Sun Lakes Big Band Orchestra playing favorite Big Band Music from the war years. There will also be a costume contest for the best dressed 1940’s costume, swing dance contest, and silent auction.
Those in attendance may purchase food and refreshments tickets for the event including refreshments and a barbeque plate provided by Taylor Rays. Tickets for “A Night in the 40’s” are $30 per person purchased in advance and $35 per person the night of the dance. Tickets can be purchased at the Arizona Wing hangar facility, 2017 N. Greenfield Rd. or online at www.usodance.com. For further information call (480) 924-1940 or visit the Night inthe 40s website at www.usodance.com. “This is a great opportunity to recapture one of the most important and nostalgic times in our history,” said Rick Senffner, publicity director for the Arizona Wing. “Events like these pay special tribute to all those who fought for freedom during WW II and allow us to look back on that piece of our past.”
