Taylorsville Dentist Volunteers with Give Kids a Smile Program

November 17, 2015 - Taylorsville, UT – Receiving effective dental care as a child is the first step to ensuring a lifetime of good oral health. However, many children are unable to receive much-needed dental care, putting them at risk of dental problems in the future. In an effort to make dental care accessible, Dr. Jeffrey Roberson recently participated in the Give Kids a Smile event.

This year, Dr. Roberson was one of the dozens of dentists and dental hygienists that volunteered their time and expertise to making dental care accessible for underprivileged children in the area. During this annual event, over 400 children without dental insurance were provided with treatments designed to tackle cavities, teeth infections, and other dental conditions. Says Dr. Roberson, "It's great to be able to give back to the community, particularly when it comes to helping kids who may not have access to the right dental treatments otherwise."

After treating each child at the event, Dr. Roberson provided them with instructions on the right way to brush and floss, ensuring effective at-home dental hygiene. According to Dr. Roberson, learning the right dental hygiene skills early on can be instrumental in protecting young smiles from dental decay.

At his family-oriented dental office, Dr. Roberson frequently sees patients as young as 18 months. Often, sealants and fluoride rinses are used as part of a preventive treatment plan to protect juvenile teeth from decay.
