ConforMIS Knee Recall Claims Being Evaluated by Bernstein Liebhard LLP Following Recall of Instrumentation for iUni, iDuo and iTotal Knee Systems
September 24, 2015 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
September 24, 2015 - Bernstein Liebhard LLP is now evaluating potential legal claims related to the ConforMIS knee recall (http://www.rxinjuryhelp.com/conformis-knee-recall/) for certain patient-specific instrumentation used with the iUni, iDuo and iTotal knee replacement product systems. ConforMIS, Inc. announced the recall on August 31st, after the company had received three complaints of moisture on the instrumentation. The affected instruments were distributed between July 18, 2015 and August 28, 2015."Instrumentation included in the ConforMIS knee recall was used in hundreds of patients before the August 31st announcement. Our Firm would like to hear from any knee replacement patients who experienced complications that may be related to this matter," says Sandy A. Liebhard LLP, a partner at Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is now offering free, no obligation legal reviews to individuals who were allegedly injured as a result of products included in the ConforMIS knee recall.
ConforMIS Knee Recall
ConforMIS has indicated that approximately 950 patient-specific instrumentation sets are affected by this recall, of which 650 have already been used in knee implant surgery. The company is seeking the return of the remaining 300 knee replacement product systems, which include the patient-specific instrumentation sets. However, ConforMIS does not believe that the customized knee implants included with the sets themselves were affected. To date, the company has not received any adverse event reports related to the ConforMIS knee recall.
According to the recall notice, ConforMIS believes that the instrumentation held excess water before undergoing an ethylene oxide sterilization process. This may have allowed the formation of ethylene glycol residue on the instrumentation, which occurs when ethylene oxide comes into contact with water.
Recipients of the iUni, iDuo and iTotal knee replacement product systems may be entitled to compensation if they experienced any complications allegedly associated with the ConforMIS knee recall.
