SCPanel.net Astounds Hosting Industry with Groundbreaking New Features
January 17, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Today SCPanel.net announced a slew of new features built into the latest release of the SCPanel Shoutcast hosting control panel. These new features firmly place SCPanel into uncharted territory; providing more features than has ever been envisioned for a Shoutcast control panel. The new features include: support for radio intro files, backup audio files, support for listeners in WinAmp, Windows Media Player, Real Media Player and Quicktime, video streaming (NSV) support, API support, increased radio security, and aesthetic control panel improvements. The intro file support introduced in version 1.2 will allow radio DJ's to have a sound clip played before a listener is tuned into the live stream. The sound clip typically takes the form of a tag for the radio station or an advertisement for a company sponsoring the radio. The backup audio will play for radio listeners when a Shoutcast DJ stops streaming or accidently becomes disconnected. When the source stream reconnects, the listeners are rejoined into the live broadcast again. This allows for better control over a radio and a more professional presentation to radio listeners.
Perhaps the most important new feature of SCPanel v1.2 is the introduction of support for Windows Media Player, Quicktime and Real Media Player listeners. Typically a Shoutcast radio stream is limited to playback only through WinAmp. With the newly supported players, listeners of SCPanel radios will be able to easily click and choose what player they wish to tune in from. This will improve the satisifaction of SCPanel radio listeners and widen the audience that an SCPanel radio may reach.
"We've had a great response thus far from our existing clients introduced to the new features," commented head SCPanel developer Alexandros Symeonidis. "You can expect to see just as many new features and exciting addons with SCPanel version 1.3 in late January to early Feburary."
