July 23, 2015 - The Princess of the Treetops-"Lil' Miss Adventure Park" was crowned on July 1, 2015 in a light-hearted pageant held at The Adventure Park at West Bloomfield, Michigan. Girls age seven to 12 were eligible. A total of 16 contestants participated. The winner was Sabrina Loftus, 10 years old, of Northville, MI, who represents the spirit of the Adventure Park by exhibiting qualities such as spirit of adventure, confronting a challenge, love for the trees, forest and woodland habitats and finally the vision to take action on behalf of the forest. The event's atmosphere was more of fun than of competition alone. Each participant was provided a sash and tiara upon arrival along with an opportunity for face painting. All the girls and their parents received long stem roses.
Activities took place on the main starting platform and introductory aerial trails in the trees at The Adventure Park, with family and friends observing from ground level, below. Park Manager, Thomas Knuth was Master of Ceremonies, interviewing and directing the girls in the treetop happenings.
"We were so pleased to have so many young ladies compete in this light hearted competition," said Mr. Knuth, "Lil' Miss Adventure Park embodies the spirit of the Adventure Park-a love for climbing, trees and a passion for our cherished forest."
The winner was crowned with an authentic woodland headpiece, grand sash and a bouquet of flowers. She took her triumphant walk on the catwalk from the main platform to greet the crowd as Lil' Miss Adventure Park. Her grand prize was a climbing pass entitling her to unlimited climbs at The Adventure Park at West Bloomfield for the remainder of the year (a $550 value.) She may also be asked to attend several events at The Adventure Park during the current season and donate free time on forest conservation around the park.
Each contestant submitted a questionnaire addressing questions on her favorite tree, favorite place in Michigan and finally…"If you could do anything to help the forest, what would that be?" After their treetop interview each contestant was asked to walk the catwalk and select one of two of the introductory courses to climb for the audience.
