Escondido Dentist Planning a Return Trip to the Dominican Republic in 2016

June 23, 2015 - Escondido, CA - Dr. Jon M. Campbell of Marler Campbell Dental Group is happy to announce that he will once again be visiting the Dominican Republic next year to provide dental care in underserved areas. Dr. Campbell has made several trips since college.

"I first learned about these trips to the Dominican Republic when I was in dental school," Dr. Campbell said. "While in school, I ended up going five times, and I've gone back pretty much every two years since then."

The trips are organized by the G3 Foundation, which provides free dental care and basic medical services to people in areas of the world where care is lacking. Since 2000, more than 6,500 people have received help. The majority of the care is given by third and fourth year dental students, who are mentored by doctors like Dr. Campbell.

"These kids get some valuable hands-on experience," Dr. Campbell said. "In just a week, they're basically doing the equivalent of several months of work at school."

In addition to working with students, Dr. Campbell has something else to look forward to when he returns to the Dominican Republic next year.

"My son, who's wanted to go with me for a while, will finally be old enough next year," Dr. Campbell added. "I can't wait for him to have valuable hands-on experience of his own."
