The recent growth in vinyl records sales was the encouragement Hutchings needed to launch a physical store, and turn a passion into a business. "For many of us, vinyl has never been away, but its popularity is certainly on the rise," he says. "It's an exciting time for record collectors."Despite being a new venture, the shop stocks several thousand old vinyl LPs and Singles across all genres. Judging from the photographs, they've got LPs by Depeche Mode, Pink Floyd, Prince, Madonna and Dire Straits which is very commendable.
"It's not just about the records that your mum and dad played," adds Hutchings. "Newer and relevant bands are also in the shop. Today bands are all releasing their music on vinyl again. It's at the point where the pressing plants can't keep up with demand. Whilst we don't stock new vinyl, we do mix newish releases with the classics and collectables."
The shop is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm and you can find it at 3-7 Tatton Road, Sale, Cheshire, M33 7EB. Its opposite the Town Hall. There is also a limited 'taster' online at Http://www.topvinyl.co.uk.
