January 13, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Lifestyle News
Marysville, OH — UniKeep, LLC, manufacturers and marketers of an extensive line of unique, document storage & handling products is pleased to announce the “Grand Prize” and “Best of Category” winners for the 2005 UniKeep Design Contest. The contest offers a $1,500 cash prize to the Grand Prize winner and a $500 cash prize to each overall Best of Category winner. The 2005 winning entries were announced in the January Issue of UniKeep eNews.
“We have been extremely impressed with the quality of the entries this year. UniKeep users are very creative and very organized and this contest is a great way for us to stay in touch with our consumers,” said Ross Youngs, CEO of UniKeep LLC and inventor of the UniKeep View Case Binder™.
Rebecca Maxwell, a self-employed graphic and web designer from the Los Angeles area, is the Grand Prize winner for 2005 with her Best of Category winning entry, “Photo Album” in Arts & Entertainment. This entry was a set of three covers in different colors. It included space and clear instructions for users to add their own photos into the cover design as well as spine labeling for the individual album. Judges considered this entry to be a perfect use of UniKeep archival-safe binders and a great cover solution for the widest audience.
“I wanted to make a binder cover that could be customizable and functional for any user,” says Rebecca about her winning design. “I have thousands of photos I need to organize, so creating a cover for a photo album seemed to be the perfect idea. I used a photo that I took in downtown L.A. of a vendor's souvenir photo stand as the background. It gives the cover an interesting, vibrant look. I chose monochromatic color schemes because the customizable oval for the photo collage should be bright and colorful with the user's own pictures. The user can truly make this cover their own one-of-a-kind work of art. The photo collage is what people should notice on the design, not necessarily what I have done with the design. It's a deceptively simple and elegant design that can work for any user.”

The Best of Category winners for 2005 are:
Arts & Entertainment – Rebecca Maxwell for “Photo Album”.
Business – Rebecca Maxwell for “What Makes You Tick?”. This is a clever cover design that works well for many general business applications and leaves plenty of room for users to add their own information.
Education – Crystal Wohl for “Solar System”. This design is definitely educational in subject matter, but the judges liked it because it presents the concept so creatively. The short front cover allows for interior contents to show, and it’s a great cover no matter what you put inside.
Hobbies & Recreation – Awn Rizvi for “Gardening”. This design is so clean and fresh that the judges felt it was perfect for the subject matter. The layout leaves plenty of room for users to add information, and the design transcends the subject, giving it universal appeal.
Sports – Janet Antich of the-ink-spot for “Nothing but Net”. The aggressive style of the illustrations seemed to really work for a basketball-themed cover with lots of potential!
Plans are underway to announce “The Third Annual UniKeep Design Contest”. The contest offers a total of $10,000 of cash prizes as well as monthly product prizes, an annual Grand Prize winner and annual Best of Category winners. Monthly winning contestants will receive a check for $100 along with a print of the winning design in a UniKeep binder. Plus, the first 50 entries each month receive a FREE UniKeep binder.
