Ohio Authors Publish First Installment in Charming Children's Series

December 9, 2014 - "Burgess and Marie Bear: Book I: Beginnings," a new children's book written by Josie Horvath and Mary Hovancsek, with illustrations by Jenny Campbell, has been released by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc.Burgess Bear has been an amputee since he was a little cub, but readers will see that living with just one leg has become easy for him. Burgess wears an artificial leg to help him stand, walk, and run like everyone else. He and his wife, Marie, begin their day by preparing a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs, warm oatmeal, wheat toast with honey, and freshly squeezed orange juice. Just as the two bears start their day with a meal full of fun and love, they start their many exciting adventures with this first book.
About the Author:
This is Josie Horvath's first children's book in the "Burgess and Marie Bear" series. She graduated from the School of Journalism at Kent State University and is a former public relations specialist. Josie lives in a small town in Ohio with her husband and their daughter, and is a breast cancer survivor.
This is also Mary Hovancsek's first children's book. She graduated with a degree in Psychology from John Carroll University, and also received an Associate of Applied Business degree in Interior Design from Virginia Marti College. Mary owns an interior design business and also lives in a small town in Ohio with her husband and two daughters.
Jenny Campbell has illustrated more than a dozen children's books for early readers, in addition to hundreds of educational texts. She is the nationally syndicated cartoonist of Flo and Friends, a strip about senior citizens, and is also the pro bono illustrator for her local humane society. She shares a refurbished century house in Chagrin Falls, Ohio with a geriatric cat and a seventy-pound, cross-eyed black lab mix.
