San Diego, California-The San Diego Missions and Prayer School (SD MAPS) is currently accepting applications for the 2006 term, with classes beginning in September. Applications may be submitted via the school’s website at: www.sdmaps.com.

SD MAPS has a long-term goal of training and sending 300 short-term missionaries to the Middle East, something that the school’s founder, Howard Everett, has long held as a dream. “Statistics tell us that 6000 unreached people groups (UPGs) exist today around the world. Our school, and those who graduate from it, can help change that.”

Students will have three classes per week in subjects ranging from the logistics of mission work to the mechanics of prayer. One lab per week will conclude the class work by placing the students in real-world ministry positions under direct supervision of instructors. These classes and labs last for 14 weeks and end with a short-term mission trip.

According to Everett, the school is designed to, “teach the precepts of ministry in a missions context. Then students take the classroom lectures and apply them to the streets in actual ministry labs.” Everett states that the labs are designed as a sort of “confidence course” in order to reduce the fear of rejection and public faith sharing in students who may not be experienced in missions. The school’s position in San Diego, California, with the large multi-cultural population, aides this process by showing different ethnic groups to the students.

The school, which is an independent missions-preparation school, is located in San Diego, California. Prospective students may visit the school’s website (www.sdmaps.com) for more information and for basic application procedures.
