Mexicali Bariatric Center introduces SADI-S weight loss surgery technique

Mexicali Bariatric Center, Mexico's number 1 weight-loss-surgery institution, announced the introduction of single anastomosis duodeno-ileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy, also known as SADI-S. SADI-S is a bariatric surgical technique aimed at achieving adequate weight loss and resolution of diseases associated with severe or morbid obesity. This procedure is a modified duodenal switch in which only one anastomosis is done, meaning that only one incision is made to join both ends of the intestine during the operation.
SADI-S has some advantages over the tradicional Duodenal Switch, such as less surgery time, less risk of internal hernia and less pain. At the same time, the advantages of DS are still there, most importantly the weight-loss success rate and high rate of malabsorbtion.
The obvious main advantage of a single anastomosis is shorter surgery time which can account for 30 minutes less when compared to the DS, thus reducing surgery risks.
Being one of the most recent and innovative procedures, there are still no long term studies published on results with SADI-S. But at the latest reunion held in Montreal, Canada this year, experts at the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Surgery (IFSO) agreed that the results obtained in the last few years are quite positive and quite similar to those of the traditional DS.
The medical experts at Mexicali Bariatric Center are always up to date on the latest and most effective techniques for weight loss surgery while maintaining the highest quality standards on par with the best health institutions in the United States and Canada. Board certified bariatric surgeon Dr. Gilberto Ungson, longtime friend and colleague of our founder the late Dr. Alberto Aceves, is Mexico's leading authority on duodenal switch and is now performing the SADI-S procedure in Mexico at Almater Hospital.
Mexicali Bariatric Center is the leading institution for bariatric surgery in Mexico. Over the last 12 years we have helped thousands of patients who have been successful in regaining a healthy life.
