Ann Arbor, MI – Want to get your people to follow you? Tell them a good story.“Good leaders are good story tellers,” says John Baldoni, leadership consultant and author. “Their stories emerge from the results they and their people achieve.”
On February 8, 2006 Baldoni will conduct a live webinar on how leaders can use their storytelling and their communications to inspire their people and their organizations to succeed. The event is free and will be carried on Microsoft Office Live Meeting at 12 noon ET/9am PT. [Link: www.livemeeting.com/forum]
“This Live Meeting webinar is itself a story,” says Baldoni. “It will be an opportunity for people to come together virtually to learn how they can use their communications to lead more effectively.”
The webinar is based on Baldoni’s newest book, How Great Leaders Achieve Great Results (McGraw-Hill 2006). It includes profiles of leaders such as Carlos Ghosn, Meg Whitman, Anne Mulcahy, John McCain and Jennifer Granholm. “These leaders,” says Baldoni, “use their communications to connect with their people in ways that make what needs to be done accessible and achievable.”
“Great results do not occur by accident. They are generated by dedicated, disciplined, and dream-driven leaders,” says Baldoni. “Such leaders communicate their vision in terms that push companies to reach new heights and inspire individuals to achieve their highest goals.”
“Stories about shared hardships as well as shared successes are the hallmarks of great organizations,” says Baldoni. “Good communication, especially in the form of stories about people who have overcome obstacles, is vital to achieving inspired results.”
According to Baldoni, leaders use stories to push their organizations forward. “Stories provide insights into the human condition. They open the window of possibility through which employees can see that their work makes a positive difference.”
As a consultant to Fortune 100 companies as well as startups, Baldoni has been helping managers become more effective communicators for more than 20 years. Baldoni also speaks frequently on leadership topics to audiences in the corporate, law enforcement, military, and university communities, including the University of Michigan.
Baldoni is author of six books on leadership; How Great Leaders Get Great Results is a third in a series on leadership communications he has created for McGraw-Hill.
