The Detroit Chinese Business Association Hosts Events Aimed at Connecting U.S., Chinese Enterprise

DETROIT – Sept. 15, 2014 – The Detroit Chinese Business Association (DCBA) announced today it will host two networking events next week aimed at forming and fostering relationships between U.S. and Chinese business leaders. The 19th annual DCBA International Golf Outing & Banquet on Thursday, Sept. 18, and New Energy for Global Mobility Forum at NextEnergy in Detroit on Friday, Sept. 19, will help identify collaborative relationships between local companies and China's Commerce Ministry.

The DCBA has partnered with China's Commerce Ministry on a trade mission of officials and executives from companies seeking collaborations and investments into green energy for automotive, mobility and transportation industries. Representatives from the Ministry will be in attendance at both the golf outing and the energy forum.

"The DCBA is passionate about creating profitable connections between the Motor Metropolis and China's respective economies, industries and business leaders," said Jerry Xu, DCBA president. "Events like these are proven relationship-building exercises that we are confident will contribute to a greater Chinese investment in and commitment to Detroit, and vice versa."

Details about each event follows:
  • 19th annual DCBA International Golf Outing & Banquet: Hosted at TPC Michigan, One Nicklaus Drive, Dearborn, the Sept. 18 outing will feature a shot-gun scramble golf outing limited to 88 golfers (22 foursomes). The banquet following the outing is sponsored by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), ACS Michigan, Corrigan Air & Sea, and Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP and will host 150 guests for an evening of delegation presentations, guanxi and networking.
  • New Energy for Global Mobility Forum: On Sept. 19, following a morning of autonomous driving R&D review at the University of Michigan, the DCBA will join the Ministry of Commerce/China Investment Promotions Agency Delegation at a luncheon hosted by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), Wayne State University, and NextEnergy. The event, taking place at NextEnergy's Detroit headquarters, will connect the DCBA's international guests from multiple companies and officials seeking local collaborations and investments in green, clean, and electric energy solutions for the mobility and transportation industries. The event will feature a presentation by a member of the Commerce Ministry, +and a five-company consortium of Michigan-based businesses active in new energy developments.
