Coldwell Banker United, Realtors® Raises Nearly $2 Million to Support American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Research

Two Companies – One Goal – Find a CureBryan, Texas – August 21, 2014 - For 13 years, Coldwell Banker United, REALTORS® and the American Cancer Society have partnered in the fight against breast cancer. Raising nearly $2 million to date, the companies are making a difference in their communities and around the world.
Richard Smith, CEO of Coldwell Banker United, REALTORS®, initially contacted the American Cancer Society to establish the relationship when two of his employees were diagnosed with breast cancer. "I knew we had the right people in our company who care enough to make a difference. And we've been striving to do that ever since," said Smith.
"Our partnership with Coldwell Banker United, REALTORS® is one of the best the ACS has," said John Kyger of the American Cancer Society. "They were one of the first companies in the country to implement commission-based contributions to support cancer research, and the impact has been tremendous."
According to Kyger, for every dollar raised, about one-third is spent on patient services, 42 cents goes toward research, and 27 cents toward public education, such as the importance of mammography and breast self-examination.
Helen Edwards, President/COO of Coldwell Banker United, REALTORS®, was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2003 and was the beneficiary of some of the services that the American Cancer Society offers. "Getting involved with ACS enables us to raise funds, REALTORS® encourage early detection. Early detection saves lives. I am one of those."
The company agents and staff have often shown their creativity in amassing the funds necessary for the battle against breast cancer. From annual sponsorships of the Making Strides Walk, golf tournaments, raffles and even a recent "Shootout at the CB Corral" – a fundraiser held at a indoor shooting range," "We are constantly amazed at the efforts of our team."
