Former LAPD Officer and Founding Member of the D.A.R.E. program, Adrienne Brennan has joined forces with The AmberWatch Foundation to serve on its board of directors in facilitating the national nonprofit organization’s mission to educate elementary-aged children and their parents to stay safe in a variety of interpersonal situations and potential endangerment scenarios with both strangers and non-strangers in and outside of the home."The Amberwatch Foundation's mission, to protect our children through prevention, has been my lifelong purpose,” says Brennan. “As a former police officer, therapist and mother, I can emphatically say that intervention does not work. Education and prevention are our only hope; we need to break the cycle and keep our kids safe from abuse, abduction and exploitation."
Currently being implemented by law enforcement agencies as part of their crime prevention education, the AmberWatch Foundation "Be Safe!" program utilizes a highly interactive situation learning format whereby law enforcement professionals demonstrate to students in a non-threatening way how to respond to real-life "what if?" scenarios.
Presented at private and public schools, community centers and youth organizations, this innovative child abduction and endangerment prevention program is offered as a public service at no cost to the participating facilities.
Ms. Brennan has been a philanthropist in Southern California for over 20 years and has raised millions for charity. She has served on the boards of a nonprofit organizations and was recently president of Chapman University's Women's Support Group for the new Film School.
“We believe Ms. Brennan’s professionalism and extensive experience in the field of law enforcement will serve to further facilitate The AmberWatch Foundation’s mission to continually increase the number of children and parents we are able to reach with the ‘Be Safe!’ program nationwide,” says Keith Jarrett, executive director. “Further, the foundation will certainly benefit from her unique perspective and expertise in law enforcement and in working with charitable organizations.”
