Imperial County, CA Transportation Commission (ICTC) Dial-A-Ride and Pasadena, CA Area Rapid Transportation System Award Contracts to First Transit

August 1, 2014 - CINCINNATI, OHIO – First Transit, a leading private provider of transit management and contracting services, announces two recent contract awards.First Transit Selected by Imperial County Transportation Commission (ICTC) To Provide Dial-A-Ride Services to Four County Cities - First Transit has been selected by the Imperial County Transportation Commission (ICTC) to provide Dial-A-Ride services within four Imperial County Cities: Calexico, Brawley, Imperial and West Shores. Dial-A-Ride is a reservation-based service within each of these cities, provided by twelve drivers using ten ICTC-provided vehicles. Dial-A-Ride provides nearly 70,000 annual trips to seniors and individuals with disabilities. These services, which will commence October 2014, will be overseen by First Transit's Josh Hood, who will bring to bear his experience as a safety and training manager, as well as his expertise in operations, planning, route development and budgeting.
The Dial-A-Ride services are in addition to the fixed route Imperial Valley Transit (IVT) and the Paratransit (IVT– Access) services that First Transit has been providing. First Transit is part of Cincinnati-based FirstGroup America, North America's largest transportation company. "First Transit is pleased to expand our services to include Dial-A-Ride in the continuation of this partnership with Imperial County," said First Transit Region Vice President Eric Estell.
First Transit Wins Contract Renewal for Pasadena's Area Rapid Transportation System (ARTS) - First Transit also announces that the company has been awarded the ongoing management, operations and maintenance of the Pasadena, CA fixed-route and Dial-A-Ride services for the Area Rapid Transportation System (ARTS). Beginning July 1, 2014, the contract is for five base years with one two-year option following the base term. There are presently 36 buses and 86 employees providing more than 1.2 million trips annually to Pasadena passengers.
