July 26, 2014 - The Platta Law Firm, PLLC recovered $1,600,000.00 for their construction accident client (Index # 102251/2009 New York County Supreme Court). The injured man had been working as an asbestos handler at a job site in Manhattan when he was struck by a falling radiator. The radiator which was 6 feet long and weighed approximately 300 pounds, struck the man in his lower extremities and knocked him to the ground. A lawsuit was filed in New York County against the owner and general contractor of the construction site under the New York Labor Law. As a result of this accident, the man suffered injuries to both knees and his right foot, including a torn meniscus in his right knee which required arthroscopic surgery, a torn meniscus and an ACL tear of his left knee which required arthroscopic surgery, as well as fractures of the second and third metatarsals of the right foot that also required surgical repair.
