Transvaginal Mesh Lawsuit News: Mesh Component Maker Reserves $180M to Deal With Claims, The Rottenstein Law Group LLP Reports
July 24, 2014 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
July 24, 2014 - According to a report filed on July 11 with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, Covidien plc is recording a pre-tax legal charge of approximately $180 million in the third quarter of fiscal year 2014, in order to reserve funds to indemnify a manufacturer of pelvic mesh product (http://avaultameshlawsuit.co/) on some claims made by persons "alleging personal injuries resulting from the implantation of those products."*According to the Form 8-K filed: "Two subsidiaries of Covidien have supplied pelvic mesh products to one of the manufacturers named in the litigation and Covidien is indemnifying that manufacturer on certain claims. The litigation includes a federal multi-district litigation in the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and cases in various state courts and jurisdictions outside the United States." Experts believe that the manufcturer to whom Covidien's subsidiaries provided components is C.R. Bard, maker of the Avaulta vaginal mesh device.
"This reservation of funds is encouraging," said Rochelle Rottenstein, principal of the Rottenstein Law Group. "It could suggest that claims by victims against Bard and Covidien might be settled (http://avaultameshlawsuit.co/settlements/) sooner rather than later."
Anyone needing more information about the dangers of the Avaulta mesh should visit the site, where everything is explained in clear, concise language. Representatives of the firm are available to answer any questions, and there is a confidential, no-cost claim evaluation form that can be filled out in order to determine if there are grounds to file a vaginal mesh product lawsuit.
