The Innovation Groups brings Dr. Guy Adams, author of UnMasking Administrative Evil, to the DFW Metroplex

The Innovation Groups, a national non-profit that addresses the needs of local governments, will offer a seminar on Overcoming the Marginalization of Citizens with Dr. Guy Adams on Friday, February 17, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Arlington Hilton. Dr. Adams is the author of UnMasking Administrative Evil which discusses the overlooked relationship between public administration and its dark side. In an age when "bureaucrat bashing" is fashionable, Guy Adams seeks to move beyond superficial critiques and lays the groundwork for a more ethical and democratic public life. The seminar will also include five concurrent panel discussions on the marginalization of the urban poor, sex offenders, illegal immigrants, special interest groups and the apprehension of arrestees by Law Enforcement. Dr. Adams is currently a professor and the Director of the Truman School of Public Affairs at The University of Missouri-Columbia.

According to Bob Hart, President of The Innovation Groups, this event will bring city managers and their staff from across the nation to dialogue and discover ways to enhance and improve local governments. The event is co-sponsored by the Master of Public Administration Programs at the University of North Texas, the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of Texas at Dallas as well as the Urban Management Assistants of North Texas (UMANT) and the North Texas Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA). General registration is $120 and $35 for students with an ID. For $5, participants can purchase Dr. Adams book, UnMasking Administration Evil with paid registration.
