Oakland, Calif. – December 19, 2005 – Music.com, the online search and discovery community for music lovers, today announced that Music.com users are now able to create online radio stations powered by Pandora’s Music Genome Project. In addition to being able to research artists and explore favorite genres, visitors to Music.com can create and share streams of songs based upon their favorite artists and hundreds of other artists with related musical traits. Launched on August 29, 2005, Pandora is the first online music discovery service based on the Music Genome Project, the most thorough analysis of popular music ever undertaken. Music lovers need only enter the name of their favorite song or artist and Pandora does the rest — creating a tailored stream of songs which share key musical characteristics. Listeners can create up to 100 of these online radio stations, refine them by providing feedback, and even email them to friends.
“There are many ways to discover new music,“ said Tim Westergren, founder of Pandora. “Music.com has created a terrific online resource for music lovers in search of new music to enjoy. Adding Pandora to the mix gives music fans another way to explore new artists, creating tailored radio stations based on the sound of their current favorites.”
“The two primary goals of Music.com are discovery of new music and entertaining the visitor. The site delivers deep artist content along with information and entertaining features,” said Anthony Yanow, CEO of Music.com. “The journey of discovery that is opened up to our users via the Pandora radio service in combination with the depth of Music.com content is exciting for casual music fans and passionate ones alike.”
