California Oncology Research Institute and Anton Bilchik, MD Set to Mark National Women's History Month this March

Santa Monica, CA - The California Oncology Research Institute (CORI), founded by renowned surgical oncologist, Dr. Anton Bilchik, MD, has served as a premier cancer outreach and research organization with a special interest in women's health. This year, Dr. Anton Bilchik and the CORI team will celebrate National Women's History Month and acknowledge the women who have contributed to the battle against cancer, as well as highlight the importance of early detection for all women.

Celebrated in March, in conjunction with International Women's Day on March 8, National Women's Month serves to highlight the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society. It also serves as an opportunity to talk about women's health and engage women on the topics of cancer and heart disease.

Among the initiatives planned by CORI to mark National Women's History month is outreach to underserved communities in an effort to spread the message of early detection and cancer prevention. Dr. Anton Bilchik will also help raise funds for cancer research that will help save women's lives.

About Anton Bilchik, MD
Anton Bilchik, MD, PhD, FACS, is Professor of Surgery and Chief of Medicine at the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, Calif. He received his medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa and earned a doctoral degree in gastrointestinal physiology at Yale University. Dr Bilchik is the recipient of many awards from such prestigious organizations as the American Cancer Society and the American College of Surgeons. He is the author of more than 200 peer-reviewed journal studies and is the co-investigator in two major National Institutes of Health-sponsored grants.
