SARASOTA AD AGENCY PRESIDENT ACCEPTS SECOND TERM
Roxanne Joffe to be Casting For Recovery Co-Chair Until 2008
Sarasota, FL- Roxanne Joffe, President and owner of CAP Creative, an Advertising and Public Relations firm specializing in Brand Development and Management, has accepted a second two-year term on the national breast cancer awareness and support organization, Casting For Recovery. "Breast cancer is a cruel and devastating disease. Every two minutes, a woman in America is diagnosed with it," said Joffe. "One out of every eight women has to face a breast cancer diagnosis in her life," she said. "Until a cure is found, Casting For Recovery provides an essential way to promote mental and physical healing and cope with the disease," Joffe emphasized. Joffe will again share the chair with Vermont magazine publisher, Kathryn Fox.
Casting For Recovery (CFR) introduces the sport of fly fishing to breast cancer survivors and provides a forum for women with similar experiences to meet and gain respite from their everyday concerns. The organization holds retreats around the country that are both educational and enjoyable. Fly fishing, by its very nature, provides a relaxing and healing connection to the natural world. The dynamics of the sport also give participants a gentle exercise for joint and soft tissue mobility.
"We're very excited Roxanne has accepted another term on the board," said Seline Skoug, executive director of the Vermont-based Casting For Recovery. "I know she continues to face multiple demands on her time, but, witnessing the fantastic growth Vermont's Race For the Cure sustained under her direction and the knowledge we've gained during her first term, CFR is truly honored to have her commitment for another two years," Skoug added. Joffe played an integral role in the Vermont Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure for ten years, chairing the race between 2000 and 2003.
The 2006 Casting For Recovery Retreat Schedule includes 34 events in 24 states. In a typical retreat, participants will learn the fundamentals of fly casting, entomology, knot-tying and equipment basics. Most important though is the therapeutic time participants spend on the water practicing catch-and-release fishing. Retreats are free. For more information, please visit www.castingforrecovery.org.
