MoloLamken Named to National Law Journal "Hot List"

(New York, February 8, 2014) - The National Law Journal has named the national litigation boutique, MoloLamken LLP, to its prestigious 2014 Litigation Boutique Hot List. The annual list identifies a handful of law firms with fewer than 50 lawyers for whom winning complex cases is "all about skill, not about size."

Steven Molo and Jeffrey Lamken, who held leadership positions in large full-service firms, founded the firm on the belief that complex litigation is most effectively handled by smaller teams comprised of smart, highly experienced lawyers who are focused on results rather than process. MoloLamken handles complex business litigation, IP litigation, and white collar defense and investigations in the trial and appellate courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. The firm has grown from 5 to 21 lawyers in four years and has offices in New York, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.

Currently, MoloLamken is representing residential mortgage backed securities investors in eight cases around the country in which the potential damages are as high as $1 billion. In a recent victory, a Chicago judge allowed one of those cases to proceed against Decision One, a mortgage originator owned by HSBC. The firm won a major victory for Rambus in June when the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit reversed a lower court and allowed claims for infringement of its memory device patents to move forward. And among its significant white collar wins in the past year, it persuaded the U.S. Department of Justice to decline to prosecute a senior Japanese auto executive in a cross-border antitrust investigation, and a public official investigated for accepting bribes from a New York real estate developer.

MoloLamken was also recently named "Cross-Border White Collar Crime Law Firm of the Year - New York" by Global Law Experts, and was named "White Collar Crime Firm of the Year in New York" as well as "Supreme Court Law Firm of the Year in Washington, D.C." by the U.K. publisher, Corporate INTL.

In recognizing MoloLamken, the National Law Journal noted its recent successes in representing the Government of Laos in a dispute over the enforcement of an arbitral award in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, as well as the Federal Judges Association in litigation resulting in an upward compensation adjustment to federal judges who had been denied cost of living increases. The National Law Journal described MoloLamken's "fanatical approach to preparation," including its use of project management to move cases toward trial.

"We are delighted to receive this honor. It is a tribute to the hard work and creativity of the tremendous team we've assembled," said firm partner and co-founder Steven Molo. "We take a very focused, client-driven approach, and it is gratifying to be recognized for that," added partner and co-founder Jeffrey Lamken.

The firm's clients include leading corporations, hedge funds, private equity firms, investors, inventors, and executives. It prefers fee arrangements centered on value that provide clients with predictability and rewards the firm for results.
