Applicants can simply download the FDNY study guide, study at their own pace, and then quickly and inexpensively take the FDNY test to become a fireguard in as little as one week or two days. Once a person has studied for fireguard certification they can take the fireguard written test every Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The test is in a written and multiple choice format and a participant needs at least a 70% to pass. The Certificate of Fitness or Fireguard Card comes at a cost of $25 for testing the first time and $15 for renewals. Making it even easier to complete the process the test can be paid for via credit card, cash, money order, or personal check made payable to the New York City Fire Department.
