SAN FRANCISCO – Tim Pingelton has joined Appellation America as its Regional Correspondent for Missouri and the appellations of Augusta, Hermann, Ozark Highlands and Ozark Mountain. Mr. Pingelton is a passionate wine scribe, journalist, and teacher in the renaissance-man tradition of Andre Simon and Missouri’s own Mark Twain, with extra-vinological writing credits ranging from literary criticism to children’s fiction to medical science reporting.
A century ago Missouri was home to the second largest winery in the USA. The state can also boast having the first officially designated “American Viticultural Area” – the Augusta AVA. But Missouri winemakers aren’t resting on their past laurels.
“Appellation definition fosters expectation,” writes Pingelton, “and we expect the diverse growing conditions of the Augusta, Hermann and Ozark regions to give our excellent wines respect and recognition on the future appellation-specific map of North American winegrowing.
Appellation America’s mission is to explore, discover and catalogue the meaningful geographical identity of North America’s diverse winegrowing regions. www.AppellationAmerica.com is a dynamic portal into more than 200 encyclopedic online magazines separately covering each & every designated appellation in the US and Canada.
Missouri wineries and industry organizations are encouraged to cooperate with Tim Pingelton in identifying and promoting the distinct character of the Augusta, Hermann and Ozark appellations. To submit wines for review, news items, events notices, or to participate in the Appellation Discovery tasting program, please contact Tim at t.pingelton@appellationamerica.com.
