Publishing House Targets Socially Engaged Readers Through YouTube

Hudson Row, a Manhattan based publishing house, has streamlined their promotional efforts by focusing on digital platforms for the rerelease of fiction novel Shaken and Stirred by author Crystal Black Davis. Utilizing YouTube as the content delivery medium, Hudson Row produced two book trailers with a specific goal to connect with the lifestyle of the book's target readers, urban professional women aged 25-49. Narrated from the point of view of Shaken and Stirred's protagonist, Christian Cullen, the trailers provide a glimpse into the backstory of two popular scenes in the book, without revealing the actual events or spoilers.
In addition to using YouTube for content delivery, Hudson Row has also enlisted the help of popular YouTube vloggers to promote the book through video reviews. "The influence factor cannot be denied…many women rely on their favorite YouTube personalities as their first choice in discovering what's hot in fashion, hair care and popular culture as a whole. Tapping into that network was one of the best strategic moves I've made for Shaken and Stirred," states Crystal Black Davis.
Shaken and Stirred was originally released in June 2009 and was formally rereleased in the summer of 2013. Shaken and Stirred is available in e-book and paperback formats through online retailers Amazon.com, BN.com and iTunes.
