With UK 'A' Level students having found out their exam results over the last few weeks and the focus being firmly on their future education, 150 students will be fortunate enough to start University without too much financial worry, thanks to the Foresters Scholarship Programme. Every year, Foresters, the international financial services organisation, awards 150 students with renewable scholarships in recognition of their outstanding educational achievements and their undertaking of volunteer projects in their community.

This socially responsible Programme – which has been running for over 20 years and has helped more than 1,000 students - provides up to £1,000 a year, every year, in grants, to allow students to concentrate on their further education.

Steve Dilworth, MD Member Network UK, from Foresters says: "With University fees continuing to rise" (the average fee is currently £9,000 with some universities set to further increase their charges this autumn*), "the cost of further education is prohibitive to many students. Many good students cannot afford to go to University, while those that do tend to leave with a debt around their neck.

"At Foresters we believe that those who show promise both in terms of their academic achievements, as well as their commitment to their communities, should be supported".

In total, over £1.5 million has been awarded in financial support to UK students.

Students who have a Foresters plan or children/grandchildren of existing Members, can apply to the Foresters Scholarship Programme. Members interested in applying for a scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year can do so until the 31st January 2014.
