Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — The CPA and Business Advisory Firm of Horovitz, Rudoy & Roteman (HR&R) is celebrating its 50th Anniversary with a mission: To give back to the community. In conjunction with The Salvation Army’s Treasures for ChildrenSM campaign, HR&R will host two firm-wide Days of Caring on Thursday, December 8th and Friday, December 9th, 2005. The Days of Caring will bring approximately 50 HR&R employees from the firm’s downtown Pittsburgh office together to extend the tradition of giving back to the community that has contributed to the growth and success of the firm over the past 50 years. The firm will also use this opportunity to start a new community outreach tradition for the upcoming 50 years.Teams of employees from HR&R will be working on the Treasures for Children toy drive at The Salvation Army’s Warehouse in Pittsburgh. “This is a natural extension of our existing commitment to The Salvation Army’s Treasures for Children campaign,” said Ericka Loften MBA, Marketing Director. “We’ve gathered toys for the drive for years from team members – this is just taking our participation one step further.”
Projects will include sorting and distributing donated toys in an effort to help underprivileged kids have a memorable holiday season. The project was coordinated by The Salvation Army after the firm approached them with the idea to begin an innovative annual tradition to celebrate its 50th anniversary through increased community volunteerism. The firm hopes their act of kindness will inspire other individuals and businesses to give more back to their communities as well. "Since the tsunami in late 2004 and with hurricanes Rita and Katrina people have shown their generosity and compassion by donating and volunteering in record numbers" said Loften. "We felt, due to this outpouring of support throughout the year, there might be an additional need for stepping up to the plate this holiday season and making sure the holiday charity drives weren't suffering from a lack of funds or volunteers."
“We’re excited at the opportunity to give back to the community in which we live and work, the community that has made the firm the success that it is,” said Paul K. Rudoy CPA/PFS., Managing Partner of HR&R. “We also wanted to obviously reap the benefits of team-building and camaraderie among the employees of our office by bringing all our folks together in a roll-up-your sleeves but fun, experience that reinforces one of our core values - Outreach. We think the project at The Salvation Army will provide the perfect venue to achieve all our objectives. And what better time of year to enjoy the spirit of giving and get out of the office than December! The entire office is buzzing about this.” said Rudoy. In addition to the Days of Caring, the firm is planning several other employee and client events throughout 2006 to celebrate its golden anniversary.
