Personalities: DIMDI Director Frank Warda to become ICW Board Member

The 41-year old medical professional will be primarily engaged in the further development of a system for the efficient and secure exchange of information between resident physicians. Additionally, he will work on the further expansion and acceleration of the integration of ICW solutions with existing physician practice management, pharmacy information, and hospital information systems. For this purpose, he will contribute his experience gained in numerous remote medicine and software development projects along with his know-how acquired in his practical work as assistant physician, where he familiarized himself with the information demand of other physicians.
Dr. Frank Warda has been director of the DIMDI in Cologne since May 2002. After studying medicine and graduating in Cologne, he initially worked as assistant physician in internal medicine. During his clinical work, he already occupied himself with developing software for outpatient invoicing and medical documentation. In the following years, his activities always focused on the online communication between the partners in the health care system. As founder of GMD Gesellschaft für medizinische Datenverarbeitung mbH, he was in charge of numerous remote medicine projects and the development of medical documentation software. He is also publisher of many articles in the field of e-health and remote medicine. He recently published the book "Elektronische Gesundheitsakten" [Electronic Health Records], the first one to provide an up-to-date overview of this topic.
