SPARX demos new UML integration with Visual Studio 2005 at Australian "VS Live!" event

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — SPARX Systems is using Microsoft’s VS Live! event in Australia to showcase new technology that integrates SPARX’ UML tools with Microsoft’s just-launched Visual Studio 2005.

The integration enables programmers and developers working inside Visual Studio 2005 use a SPARX add-in – MDG Integration for Visual Studio 2005 — to access and modify UML models created in SPARX flagship Enterprise Architect. This access is available entirely within the native Visual Studio interface, and does not require knowledge of UML notation or conventions.

The add-in also enables reverse and forward engineering of UML models from within Visual Studio using several common programming languages.

SPARX CEO and founder Geoffrey Sparks said the new level of integration between Visual Studio and Enterprise Architect allows IT teams using both products to manage the entire software development lifecycle in a single unified platform.

Sparks said that in addition supporting UML 2.0 modelling, SPARX Enterprise Architect also provides tools for managing requirements; managing project resources; testing, compiling and debugging code; and tracking version control.

Enterprise Architect 6.0 also includes enhanced reporting and document editing, data modeling and the ability to engineer code in a wide range of common development languages – including key XML-based technologies such as XSD and WSDL.

“We’ve created a new, agile and exciting way of tying together all aspects of the development process,” said Sparks. “We’re the ‘Swiss army knife’ of software development tools.”
