Talk show host Paul McGuire asks Tim LaHaye of "Left Behind," "Is this the end of the world?"

Haye, “How close we are to the end of the world? Tim LaHaye ,whose “Left Behind” series has sold more than 45 million copies, will not set a date, but responds “It won’t be long.” LaHaye calls McGuire “a close friend” and regularly comes on the syndicated Paul McGuire Show to discuss the subject of Bible prophecy. A subject the two have a strong mutual interest in, and a subject that millions of Americans are fascinated with.

On the air, Tim LaHaye talks about reading Paul McGuire’s non-fiction books on Bible prophecy like “Are You Ready?” and “Countdown to Armageddon.” LaHaye puts a similar messsage in the form of novels, like his latest best-seller “The Regime,” co-written with Jerry B. Jenkins. Authors like Tim LaHaye and Paul McGuire are tapped into an audience of millions of Americans who take subjects like Armageddon, the Rapture and the Second Coming literally. They all share a common belief that reformation of the modern nation of Israel in 1948 began the beginning of the end.

Both LaHaye and McGuire live in Southern California, which is the center of the cyclone when it comes to interest in the subject of Bible prophecy. On McGuire’s daily 3-hour drive time show which airs from KBRT in Los Angeles, he features a steady stream of the world’s most well know authorities on Bible prophecy. Pastor Chuck Smith founder of the Calvary Chapel Movement with over 1500 churches world wide, Dr. David Hocking who is a well known Bible teacher and Hal Lindsey who wrote “The Late Great Planet Earth.” In addition, McGuire regularly has key leaders from Israel such as General Shimon Erem, former Mayor of Jerusalem and Deputy Director of Israel Ehud Olmert and Israeli Consul General and Ehud Danoch. McGuire also interviews American political leaders like President Jimmy Carter who has been instrumental in the Middle East peace process and Senator John McCain who has been a critic of the Bush Administration for its apparent use of torture. In the interest of fairness, McGuire has had on spokesmen for the Palestinian cause on the program.

Paul McGuire is a frequent guest on Fox News Network and CNN. He is the author of 14 books including his latest which is “Are You Ready?” He is member of the Board of Directors of the Israel Christian Nexus which is a group of leading Jewish and Christian leaders. McGuire speaks on Bible prophecy conferences such as the “End of the Age” in conjunction with the Kings College and Seminary at the Church On The Way. Over the period of days McGuire will speak to around 7,000 people will come out including several thousand Hispanic church members, to whom McGuire will speak through an interpreter.
