"Before Alzheimer's Sets In," a new book by Gilbert Gonzalez, has been released by RoseDog Books.

This book is about the life of a man that was born to a very poor Mexican family. He writes about the struggle for survival, such as having to eat wild animals in order to keep from starving. Wild plants such as cactus supplemented their diet. He remembers stealing fruits and vegetables from fields and orchards.

In reading this book the reader will experience the whole range of emotions. There is great happiness and sadness, anger and tragedy, as he leads the reader through a lifetime of true experiences.

On occasions the author reveals his sense of humor by sprinkling bad situations with humorous antidotes.

About the Author:
Gilbert Gonzalez was born in 1938, in Harlingen, Texas. He was raised by his parents who came to the United States illegally from Mexico after the Mexican Revolution. Gilbert was raised in a very poor environment due to his father's inability to find gainful employment in Texas. In spite of the poverty that plagued the family, he managed to work his way through high school and graduated at the age of 19.

After graduation, Gilbert was unsuccessful at finding gainful employment. He was finally able to land a job as a janitor for the Central Power and Light Company in Harlingen, Texas. That began a career with a lot of twists and turns as he worked his way into other jobs, including Draftsman and Engineering Assistant. Gilbert retired from the company with the title of Contract Analyst after working for the company for thirty-five years.

Everything in this book is a true recollection of memories of what Gilbert went through in his early years, the school years, his working life, up to his retirement, and his two marriages. The author wrote this book because he believes that everyone has a story that should be told regardless of how poor, or how insignificant they perceive their lives.
