Mohave County Welcomes Yevgeniy Khavkin, M.D. to the TriState Pain And Neurosurgery Institute
January 02, 2013 (PRLEAP.COM) Health News
The Tristate Pain Institute opened three years ago, committed to provide the most comprehensive Pain Medicine services in Mohave County. Rational pain medicine use, combined with treatment based on accurate diagnosis and evidenced based options have changed attitudes towards pain management within our community. As the founder of our practice, Dr. Benjamin Venger practiced neurosurgery for nearly two decades before transitioning into pain medicine. His vision was that The Institute would be more than just a pain center. In keeping with this vision, Dr. Charles Stevens joined the practice last year, offering many new options for treatment, and will transition into a full time provider over 2013. Both Drs. Venger and Stevens now are proud to raise the bar, offering the residents of the TriState regions options for integrated and local care related to surgical intervention both of the spine and brain.
We are proud to introduce Dr. Yevgeniy (Gene) Khavkin. As Dr. Khavkin grew up in Russia, exposure to medicine came early at age 14 as he worked with his mother, a Pediatric Surgeon in his hometown of Moscow. Then at 16 years old, he was accepted into medical school in Russia. When his family immigrated to America, he transferred to the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, graduated, and subsequently completed a Neurosurgical Residency at the University of Chicago. Dr. Khavkin also spent a year Fellowship in Complex and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery at Johns Hopkins University.
For several years afterward Dr. Khavkin served as the Director of Neurosurgical Spine Service at the Northwestern University in Chicago, performing countless complex surgeries while simultaneously training neurosurgery residents and his fellows. In addition, he has contributed to international medical charity work, both in Russia and South America. Not only recognized as expert in both intracranial and spine surgery, he is also the national past president of the Russian American Medical Association
For the past few years Dr. Khavkin has practiced in Las Vegas, Nevada, along with his wife Jeannie, an ENT and Facial Plastic Surgeon, and brother Albert, an anesthesiologist. All three have looked forward to becoming better acquainted with the TriState areas.
Dr. Khavkin and Dr. Venger are able to offer consultations in neurosurgery throughout the week, with options for both pain medications and interventions seamlessly combined. Having reached out to our local hospitals, Drs. Khavkin, Venger and Stevens now are planning to offer minimally invasive spine surgery, and eventually some intracranial procedures, close to your home.
For those in pain who need awareness, alternatives and hope, Drs. Khavkin, Venger and Stevens now offer a new vision for the future! To schedule an appointment with Drs. Khavkin, Venger and Stevens, please call the TriState Pain and Neurosurgery Institute at 928-788-3333.
