Diamond Vision Volunteering - New York Hurricane Sandy Relief

Diamond Vision, a leading provider of laser vision correction in New York City, recently held an event providing much needed help to victims of Hurricane Sandy. The event was held on November 25th and supplied free hot meals to more than 200 people who are still suffering from the effects of the devastating storm.
According to Diamond Vision, more people attended the event than expected, but they were able to give everyone a meal. The public event was held at St. Helen Roman Catholic Church in NYC from 11am-3pm. "The event went well," one volunteer stated. "We were able to help a lot of people."

The Thompson family, who has lived in Broad Channel, Queens for more than 27 years, described how they were forced to seek shelter in the second floor of their home when the first floor was completely flooded and destroyed. Another attendee, an 84-year-old widow, also told volunteers how she lost everything in the hurricane, including her home. She was not able to receive help from FEMA until almost three weeks after Sandy had passed.
