Parking Matchmaker Celebrates Record Success

November 17, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Entrepreneur Stephen Hall, founder of City Centre Parking, is a man frustrated by his own success. Two years after starting his innovative company, he has matched countless individuals or companies with spare parking places provided by others who don’t need to use them. “The response from users wanting to avoid expensive big brand public-access car parks and those wanting to earn a little extra from their unused car park space has been phenomenal,” Stephen explained.

Stephen’s company currently operates in Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds, with Sheffield as the next target. In all three cities, there has been a massive growth in city centre living with apartments often having dedicated parking spaces. Sometimes these are unused because city centre dwellers have less need of cars or sometimes they travel out of the city to work. Forward-thinking estate agents have also seen the massive benefit the service offers them and now advertise apartments as coming with or without parking to help broaden their appeal.

Stephen’s company finds the eager commuters or residents who can make the most of places made available by individuals and they are happy to work with estate agents who want to give their advertised apartments more flexibility. “The system benefits everyone,” Stephen says. “Someone with a 24/7 usage parking space to let in a city apartment block could be up to £1300 better off over a year for very little effort. This space is then made available at a lower cost than long-term commercial contract parking to a commuter or city centre resident that does not have local parking facilities.”

City Centre Parking takes care of the contracts and management. A dedicated account manager is assigned to the user and space supplier to ensure smooth running of the contract. Another important benefit is that most of the bays are in residential areas where access is controlled, more secure and the environment is less intimidating. To make the most of available spaces, City Centre Parking even have an office hours scheme where a city resident who uses their parking space between 6pm and 8am can still generate an income from it during the working day.

With the growing commuter trend the value of city centre unused parking spaces is sure to continue to be an asset for those who own them. Available parking spaces are free to register on scheme without any obligation to go further at www.citycentreparking.com/register.htm. “The only problem now,” concluded Stephen, “Is we have a waiting list of commuters and residents without spaces prepared to pay and too few people with spare bays coming forward.”
