Banking recruitment posts positive quarter despite economic fluctuations

Pockets of banking and financial services recruitment activity existed across the market in quarter three, according to the latest Banking Job Market Updates from specialist recruitment consultancy Robert Walters. Within banking operations, there were increases across the board.

The Update found hiring was driven by teams being rebuilt and consumers reinvesting after the global economic uncertainty experienced in the first half of the year. Wealth management and superannuation performed well, and was followed by increased hiring of front line sales/revenue generators, relationship managers, mortgage brokers, financial advisors and business development professionals.

Andrew Hanson, Sydney Director of banking and financial services recruitment adds, "The demand for banking and finance professionals varied but on the whole remained steady, which was impressive considering how the fluctuating economy influenced other sectors. Banking operations performed well, particularly in financial planning and lending. The outlook for quarter four is positive, with organisations continuing their focus on sales and revenue generating to see out the rest of the year."

The update also found that salaries remained stable, with most professionals seeking job stability and security rather than increased remuneration.
